MadAve gives all Publishers the ability to run Affiliate, Internal, and/or Retail Campaigns so they never have to display a single ad impression they can’t make money off of.  Sadly not all Publishers want to put in the five minutes it takes to set these up.  I HATE seeing this:

Yes, if an advertiser happens to click that link, goes to your Publisher profile, and buys a campaign then you could make some money.  Not likely and that’s why we have the “Show Your Ad Here” functionality you can enable on any zone so a link shows below it.

We try our best to always have Network Campaigns available for Publishers but it’s impossible 100% of the time because they feature Geo-Targeting and Frequency Caps.  Thus, we ALWAYS suggest setting up some Retail or Affiliate campaigns so you’ll ALWAYS be displaying ads that can make you money.

But, given that’s not always happening we’re going to help you out!  Next week you’ll never see that butt-ugly Your Ad Here ad again.  Originally the plan for House Ads was to serve this purpose.  Problem is the House Ads are generating such high RPM for our Publishers they’re often showing up more often than the Branded Campaign Ads.  Go figure!  So now we’re rolling out Filler Ads.  These Advertisers will only pay 1/2 a penny per click on and ONLY show up when there is absolutely NOTHING else to show.  That means Filler Ads will only show when the Publisher hasn’t setup ANY Retail / Affiliate / Internal campaigns AND hasn’t requested to have Network Campaigns Allocated to his/her zones.  Not often but this will allow new Publishers to create their zones and throw up the codes and see ads!

REMEMBER: when you create new zones you MUST email Support@MadisonAvenue.com to request Network Campaigns!!!  Also remember it’s always best to add all possible zones FIRST even if you’re not ready to put them up live on your site.  We have to edit each Network Campaign to add you so we can only go through and do that once per Publisher.
