Overbid % Explanation & Change To Branded Wizard

I’ve noticed a lot of Advertisers setting up campaigns with high Max CPC bids (good) but low OverBid% (bad).  It’s clear there’s not a high level of understanding of how the two variables interact.  You could set a maximum CPC of $1,000,000 but if your OverBid% is set to 0% then you’ll ONLY be bidding the MINIMUM required by the Publisher!

MadisonAvenue.com is not like other ad networks where your bid “automatically increases” or scales up.  When building the system our Advertisers stressed that they ALWAYS wanted to know what their bid would be and this would never change without their express permission.  So that’s how we built the system.  But to make it easier to build a large campaign across multiple Publisher Traffic Sources with different Minimum Required Bids, we came up with the Max CPC and OverBid% system.

Rather than asking you what CPC you want to bid on each and every Publisher we’ve simplified things with the MaxCPC and OverBid% components.  You simply tell us the MOST you’ll pay per click (MaxCPC) and then what percentage (if any) you want to bid OVER the minimum required bid set by each Publisher..  No matter what your OverBid%, you’ll never go over your MaxCPC.  For example, say you set a $0.09 MaxCPC and 10% OverBid.  Here’s what you’d pay on different Publishers:

Minimum Required Bid OverBid% Your Bid
$0.02 10% $0.022
$0.05 10% $0.055
$0.07 10% $0.077
$0.09 10% $0.090
$0.10 10% $0.000

Notice on the Publisher at $0.09 you’re not bidding 10% over (or $0.99) as that would be over your MaxCPC.  On the $0.10 Publisher you would be running on at all because your MaxCPC is below the Minimum Required Bid.

Now, what we’ve changed.  We’ve found Advertisers were often trying to put in bids that were 2-3 times higher than the Publisher’s Minimum Required Bid.  So say the Traffic Source Required $0.05 and the Advertiser wanted to then bid $0.15.  But previously the maximum OverBid% an Advertiser could choose was 100% so it was technically impossible for the Advertiser to bid more than $0.10.  Simple fix.  We’ve changed the maximum OverBid% on the Branded Campaign Wizard to 300%.  Easy enough!

Publishers: Make $0.05 Per MOBILE Visitor!

We’ve got a great new system to help Publishers monetize mobile traffic that pays $0.05 per unique visitor from a mobile device! In testing we’ve seen that most publishers have anywhere from 2% to 4% of their traffic visiting from mobile devices like iPhones, PSP’s, etc. We’ve now got a SIMPLE system in place where you can make $0.05 per unique visitor off that traffic!

The setup couldn’t be easier. We give you some very simple code to put into your site which detects if a visitor is on a mobile device and redirects them to http://mobile.YouDomainName.com. So for example, if you visit WorldSex.com on an iPhone you’d get redirected to http://mobile.worldsex.com. That’s it! Every person that gets redirected over to your white labeled mobile site earns you $0.05! All you have to do to get on board with this is hit me up (marc@madisonavenue.com) and we’ll build a white label mobile site for you. We email you the codes to put into your pages to handle the redirect and you make a simple DNS entry for the third-level mobile.YourDomainName.com.

Now the important questions every Publisher will have: when do I get paid and how do I track my stats? Payment will be made along with your regular Publisher Earnings. We’ll add your Mobile Earnings into your reporting interface at the end of every month. ALL the tracking on this is done through Google Analytics! Nice 3rd party everyone trusts. We don’t have it integrated yet where you can pull your stats directly through MadisonAvenue.com but those participating can email Support@MadisonAvenue.com anytime and we can pull the report from Google and email it over to you!

So HIT ME UP NOW to get on board and start making some serious bank off your mobile visitors!

Filler Ads now targeted on Visitor Orientation

Publishers with Gay Traffic rejoice, heh!  A week ago (yes, I’m behind on posting to the blog again) we launched the final step in our new Visitor Orientation targeting.  The Filler Ads are now automatically split into Straight, Gay, Transgender, and Doesn’t Matter.  So now when new Publishers come on board and first set up their zones and put them live the ads will be targeted correctly.  In case you’re not familiar with what Filler Ads are, scope out this post.

Previously we only had Straight targeted Filler Ads so this really sucked for Gay Publishers.  No worries now :)

Of course, and as always, I reiterate Publishers should setup at least one Affiliate Campaign and assign it to all their zones.  That way they’ll NEVER see Filler Ads which frankly, as the name implies, are only there so something shows up!

Online Ordering for Targeted House Ads Now Live!

We’re stoked to announce the new online buying wizard for our new Targeted House Ads is up and running!  Advertisers can now place their orders online any time, 24/7 and of course if they pay with a credit card their campaign will be up and running within 1 hour!

Remember our new Targeted House Ads allow Advertisers to target based on Visitor Orientation (sexual preference), geographic location, AND on Niche.  Like our previous version of House Ads we make all the ad creatives in house so Advertisers don’t have to bother providing ads!  All we need is the linkURL!

Click the image to see a full size version!

We’ve got several niches available already but if you don’t see the particular one you need, no problem.  Just email sales@madisonavenue.com what you’re looking for and we can have ads made in 24 to 48 hours!

We’ve had a few advertisers balking about the new / higher CPC’s of the Targeted House Ads.  “Why can’t we get the old offer that was at $0.01CPC.”  The reason for the higher CPC that all the new targeting options lower the overall click-thru-ratio for Publishers so to maintain their earnings we’ve got to charge more.  Besides, this is WAY better targeted traffic so it’s worth more.

But fear not, Advertisers can still get the old offering at $0.01 CPC but now with geo-targeting and visitor orientation targeting!  We’ve packed in a nice little discount feature!  Enter in a campaign budget of $5000 or more and you automatically get a $0.01 CPC discount on any Niche / Visitor Orientation combination.  Choose General Hardcore / Straight (which is what the original House Ads were) and you get a CPC of $0.01!
